Course Description:
Raising children is hard work! If you are a newcomer to Canada with different customs and expectations, you may find yourself challenged and conflicted in trying to balance your cultural norms with Canadian norms, making parenting even more overwhelming.
In this one-of-a-kind e-learning course, you will meet real parents, grandparents and children who have experienced the transition from parenting in their place of origin to parenting in Canada and have maintained and grown their healthy parent-child relationships. Their stories are unscripted and real.

Course Objectives:
- Hear how other parents, grandparents and youth have maintained and grown their positive family relationships through the stress of immigrating.

- Consider ways to maintain your cultural values and traditions.
- Discover strategies to reduce your stress.
- Understand how your children react to your and their stress.
- Consider your roles and expectations as parents, grandparents, children and youth within the family, at work and in the community.
- Explore a new concept of respect.
- Consider some ways to keep your family relationships growing.
- Discover some available supports and resources.
