Who should become a Parent Educator?
To be eligible to apply as a Parent Educator you must be a parent.Essential Criteria to Become a Parent Educator
To become a Parent Educator, the following are the core criteria we are looking for is as follows:- Are friendly and outgoing
- Enjoy working in a team environment
- Are flexible and can easily adapt to new environments and situations
- Have basic computer skills(must be able to navigate the Internet) and have an email account
- Knowledge of computer skills is an asset
- Provide office administrative skills is an asset
- Familiarity with standard technology tools, such as the Microsoft Office, sufficient to use these tools to deliver workshops, courses, online training and learning programs
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with an emphasis on effective facilitation
- Strong facilitation skills, in order to effectively facilitate learning programs using various approaches (online, telephone, classroom)
- Have an understanding of the Adlerian Philosophy
- Demonstrate strong listening, communication, understanding and responding skills
- Are fluent in English (ability to speak other languages a bonus)
- Can commit to flexible hours day or evenings
- A resident of Ontario and legally entitled to work in Canada

Throughout the process, we offer continued tools, resources, and support you need to be successful.
Responsibilities
● Helping Parents with tools and tips
● Providing information, reference material, workshops, courses and more
● Responding to parent inquiries with thoughtful, enthusiastic and accurate answers
● Enhancing the overall parent experience
Time Commitment
Parent Educators commit to several shifts throughout the week (Monday to Saturday) days and evenings for up to one year.
*The ability to work variety of shifts on a weekly basis is an asset.
Training Requirements
- Attend mandatory training course,refresher course, volunteer in several Family Education volunteer events
- Participate in monthly meetings throughout the year
Parent Educator Initial Training
- Application process
- 6-week Initial
Approval and Acceptance Process:
- Our Program Coordinator will contact you with regards to your interest in the course
- You will be placed on an eligible contact list of candidates
- Our Program Coordinator will advise you with a date, time and requirements to begin training
- Once you have completed the training you will be eligible to start facilitating and a part of FEC team
- An assessment and discussion will be reviewed for further opportunities within FEC
Cost:
- The cost of the training is $350 which includes all materials (payment plans are available)
Parent Educator Refresher Training
- Application process
- 6-week Refresher Training

- No fees apply for this training it is included in the initial registration.
