Family Futures programs are specifically for Peel CAS clients. We offer virtual programs through Zoom with an in-person events for families. In-person events are held in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Peel and Bridgeway EarlyOn Centres.

Our goal is to share and promote strategies/skills with our clients to help them better cope with their parenting challenges, create a supportive home environment, and help parents minimize the risk of their children becoming involved in high risk activities We strive to:

* Decrease conflict at home
*Help parents minimize the risk of their children becoming involved in high-risk activities

2024-2025 Family Futures Programs

Program Type: 8-week virtual program
When: Thursday evenings May 2 – June 20, 2024, 6:15 pm – 8 pm

Topics include communication skills for interacting with children and the other parent when emotions are difficult to control; problem solving techniques to help navigate through difficult circumstances; and strategies to help co-parent when you don’t agree.

Program Type: 8-week virtual program
When: Wednesday evenings July 3 – August 21, 2024; 6:15 – 8 pm

This program combines the eLearning course ‘Why So Angry?’ with follow-up live discussions every week. Topics include understanding anger; techniques to deal with angry situations in the moment and then longer term; and how to discipline rather than react.

Program Type: 8-week virtual program + 2 In-person Events

When: 

Fall Program: Tuesday evenings., September 10 – October 29, 2024, 6:15 – 8 pm
 Winter Program: Thursday evenings, January 23 – March 20, 2025, 6:15 – 8:00 pm  *Excludes March Break.

Parent topics include parenting styles; why children misbehave; encouragement; effective communication; age-appropriate discipline.
This program is appropriate for parenting children of all ages.

*In-person events run in partnership with Bridgeway Family Centre and the Boys & Girls Club of Peel.

Program Type: 15-week virtual program + 1 In-person Event
When: Wednesday evenings, 6:15 pm – 8 pm
October 30, 2024, to February 26, 2025
*Excludes Christmas/winter break.

This is an extended program for parents going through a separation or divorce. Topics include breaking the news to your child; understanding your child’s personality to help best support them; strategies to help your child transition between two homes; and how to keep parental conflicts away from your child.

Program Type: 14-week in-person program on Monday evenings
When: Part 1 – Monday, October 21 to December 2, 2024, 6 to 8 pm
             Part 2 – Monday, January 13 March 3, 2025, 6 to 8 pm

A family program for youth ages 7+ and their parents/caregivers. Topics include communication skills for difficult conversations; building self-esteem through encouragement; handling/supporting children to navigate peer pressure; online/home safety; problem solving skills; and anger management techniques.
Includes a light meal. Transportation assistance is available.
