Parents and caregivers everywhere say the same thing, “These kids are driving me crazy! Why are they always fighting?” This is true for most families whether you are a single parent family, a traditional family, or a blended stepfamily, siblings seem to get into or create combat situations amongst themselves no matter how hard we try to obtain the opposite results.

In this eLearning course, Coping with the Combat: When Siblings Fight, we are going to explore why children fight in the first place, how to minimize the reasons for conflict and discover various strategies to help you maneuver around the combat when it happens.

We are going to look at a powerful strategy for diffusing the combat – putting feelings first. In all situations of conflict between people, putting feelings first will help our children feel understood which will then allow them to productively move ahead to resolve and settle the issue. You will be introduced to different ways or methods of putting feelings first.

We will then explore how we sometimes fall into the trap of comparing our children. By recognizing how we do make comparisons, we will then learn some healthy alternatives so that we can address the situation or what we need from the child.

Using these strategies will help you set up the playing field with minimum combat so that you do not feel as if you need to play the general who is caught in the middle of the war zone!
