Thank you for your interest in becoming a Volunteer at Family Education Centre. Volunteers are some of the most valued members of our team. Due to COVID-19, most of our volunteer positions are on hold, we will notify when these become available once again.

Below is a list of roles that we typically are looking to engage volunteers in:

Bingo Ambassador

Interact with bingo players and support the fun, interactive environment at the bingo hall! FEC provides two volunteers per bingo at Delta Bingo in Brampton, from 12:45 to 3:15 pm every Monday throughout the year. We are seeking volunteers who like to socialize to greet bingo patrons, call back bingos, empty ticket machines and count the number of session participants. This role is a minimum of 1.5 hours per week and a maximum of 3 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. We offer flexibility around the number of events you choose to volunteer at per year.

General Board member

Our Board is a dynamic team of dedicated volunteers who give their time to oversee the organization’s mission, values and vision. The total time commitment per month is a minimum of 2 hours, with no maximum, depending on the level of involvement you choose. The Board meets the last Monday of every month, for a time commitment of 2 hours that evening, and each member sits on a committee, for an additional time commitment of 1 hour per month. Terms for Board members are your choice, 2 or 3 years, for a maximum of two consecutive terms.

FEC Ambassador

Become an FEC Ambassador and interact with parents, community members and policy makers within our community. FEC seeks a community development ambassador to attend events of interest in the community and share FEC information, answer questions, and register parents for programs. Time commitment is between 3 and 10 hours per month, and the shifts will vary according to event schedules. Training on FEC materials, programming and services will be provided.

All volunteer positions require a police check not more than 6 months old, as well as a signed pledge of confidentiality prior to commencing the position.

We are proud to announce that Peel Family Education Centre Board of Directors has unanimously adopted the Canadian Code for Volunteer Involvement. In doing so, the board passed the following motion:

“That the Canadian Code For Volunteer Involvement be adopted by this organization as an integral part of operational practice, to be made known to every employee and volunteer, and to be made readily available to every staff member and volunteer for consistent reference and consultation.”

“The Board of Directors recognized the vital role that volunteers play in ensuring the delivery of our Mission is achieved and supports the actions taken to achieve this goal.”
